A 1.8 ct faceted crystal quartz with natural golden thread-like inclusions, called rutile, is set in this rough-hammered sterling silver ring. This ring can easily be sized by your local jeweler.
Quartz has been widely used by many civilizations for centuries. Most famously used to make crystal balls since the middle ages, rock crystal (also known as crystal quartz) is traditionally associated with water. It’s internal pattern led the Greeks to believe that it was, in fact, petrified ice. The ancient Mayans on the Yucatan peninsula believed in the stone’s ability to channel the power of water to arid regions. The ancient Japanese believed quartz formed from the breath of a white dragon, and regarded it as representing perfection. Australian Aborigines used quartz in rain rituals. Crystals skulls were reportedly made by Atlanteans and are believed by some to be living entities. Quartz is a power stone and has been called the "Universal Crystal" because of its many uses. It enhances energy by absorbing, storing, amplifying, balancing, focusing and transmitting. As such, it is very useful to enhance the energies of other gemstones.
Rutile: Needles of rutile (a mineral and natural form of titanium dioxide) are naturally embedded within any stone. Rutile can be black, gold, or silvery, reddish or green-hued.
